Spiritual Leader:

Aaron Rotenberg

Aaron is a passionate community builder in the downtown Jewish community. A native of Thornhill, he completed a joint bachelor’s degree program at List College through the Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia University. After New York, Aaron spent 2.5 years living in Israel, studying at Midreshet Ein Prat, living and working in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, as well as spending a summer as a fellow at Yeshivat Hadar in 2012. In addition to his work in the Jewish community, Aaron is a multi-disciplinary artist focusing on film and video. Aaron returned to Toronto to complete an MFA in Film Production at York University and since that time has been involved with Annex Shul, sitting on the ritual committee, the education committee and guiding the community through High Holy Day services in 2015 and 2016. Aaron was a co-founder of The Orchard, a Jewish Intentional home in the Annex, and he has served as a board member of the Young Leadership Council of the International Council of Christians and Jews. Aaron was named as one of the 24 Jews Who Are Changing the World by the Canadian Jewish News in 2015. Between teaching virtual reality video workshops, organizing to improve decent working conditions in Ontario and teaching Bnei Mitzvah students, Aaron enjoys learning new niggunim, biking in the warm weather and reading S. Y Agnon.
